New Horizon's Seniors Grant Presentation

The Burlington S.A.L.T. Council (Seniors and Law-enforcement Together) applied for and was awarded a New Horizon's Seniors Grant for Community Participation and Leadership for the purpose of reaching out to seniors of diverse cultural backgrounds.

In a presentation at the Halton Region Police Services Station, January 15th, Mike Wallace, Member of Parliament for Burlington, presented $25,000 in funding to assist with the “Web of Life Project”. The funding will allow the Burlington S.A.L.T. Council to translate their brochures and presentations into the 5 most prevalent non-English languages spoken in Halton, in an effort to reach out to isolated seniors who may not know their rights or how to access the help they may need due to a language barrier.
