Rising Tide: The Impact of Dementia on Canadian Society
The population of Canada is ageing dramatically as baby boomers reach the age of 60 and the second most feared disease is Alzheimer’s. An undertaking by the Alzheimer Society of Canada to determine the impact this disease is and can have on society was completed in 2009. On January 14th The Alzheimer Society of Hamilton Halton presented an update on The Rising Tide: Alzheimer Disease, Dementia Research and Care for 2010 with keynote speaker Dr. Christopher Patterson from the Hamilton Health Sciences at the Royal Botanical Gardens.
The Alzheimer Society of Hamilton Halton offers support, education and respite to individuals with dementia and to care providers. Visit www.alzheimerhamiltonhalton.org for more details.
