Pita Pit Shoe Drive Kick-Off

On March 9, the Pita Pit, located in the Power Centre, kicked off its Shoe Drive. The month- long fundraiser is aimed at collecting 1,000 pairs of new running shoes to be distributed to disadvantaged youth in the Halton and Hamilton District School Boards. Anyone who donated a new pair of shoes or made a cash donation of $20 or more, was not only able to purchase any pita for $3, but was entered into a draw for a chance to win a 2013 Equinox from Leggat Chevrolet, which will take place on April 6. In support of this endeavour, Hamilton Tiger Cats' players Marwan Hage and Ryan Hinds came out to roll pitas, sign autographs and take photos with their fans. Mascots, Pita Pete and Stripes were also on hand. Great day, great fun, great cause! It doesn’t get much better than that!
