Burlington's Canada Day

Residents of and visitors to Burlington were treated to a fun filled family day as the city celebrated our nation’s 145th birthday along Burlington’s waterfront. The Canada Day Festival kicked off with a run and yoga in the park. A stilt walking Mountie busker, a dog show and the rock climbing wall entertained kids of all ages. A Canadian Citizenship ceremony was held on stage in the morning as well as the Queen Medal Presentations and the Burlington Teen Tour Band marched the waterfront through the emotional crowd. Connie Smith, former news anchor at CHCH TV, was the Emcee for the opening ceremonies where we heard words from some of our political leaders, Jane McKenna MPP, Mike Wallace MP and Mayor Rick Goldring. The highlight of the many musical performances of the day was Ashley MacIsaac. The day ended with a literal ‘bang’ as eyes turned to the sky for the fireworks display. What a great birthday party!
